As you read these words, photons are being converted into electrical signals by your retina. Moving at the speed of light, your brain constructs a simulation of the letters you are reading and the wider reality around you. This process is so rapid and seamless that it often feels like an accurate representation of objective reality. However, it is a construct, created by a machine designed for survival and not to show us the true nature of reality. This construct contains inherent flaws as the sensory and interpretation systems it relies on use a range of energy saving heuristics called cognitive biases.
