Rosy Retrospection Bias

A cognitive bias known as "rosy retrospection" leads people to overestimate the good aspects of the past. For instance, rosy nostalgia could make someone believe that their childhood years were happier than they actually were.

Declinism is the idea that a certain entity, such as a nation or a business, is deteriorating and may eventually collapse. For instance, a person who exhibits declinism can think that society as a whole is getting worse and worse every day, even if, according to their own standards, things are getting better.

Rosy retrospection often results in declinism because it leads individuals to assume that the past was better than it actually was, which can make the present and future seem dreadful in comparison.
