The term anthrospermist is a tyope of person who aims to settle humanity on other celestial bodies due to the inevitable demise of earth. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, are prime examples. As industrial magnates, they embody the paradox of anthrospermism — they are at the forefront of technological and industrial advancements on Earth, yet these very advancements contribute to the ecological strain on the planet, prompting a need to seek habitats beyond Earth.

Musk, through SpaceX, envisions colonizing Mars, not just as a scientific endeavour but as a necessary plan B for humanity in the face of Earth's environmental decline, which is exacerbated by industrial activities, including those from sectors Musk himself is involved in, such as automotive manufacturing with Tesla.Similarly, Jeff Bezos, with Blue Origin, proposes grand visions of space habitation. His concept of moving industries into space to alleviate Earth's ecological burden comes against the backdrop of Amazon's massive global footprint, a company that has been criticized for its environmental impact and contribution to carbon emissions.

Both Musk and Bezos, while pioneering space exploration and potentially creating avenues for human survival beyond Earth, also represent a certain irony. Their vast industrial enterprises contribute to the very ecological crises that make their space endeavors seem imperative.
