From BurnZero

We all stand on the bones of a thousand generations past. We look up to an empty sky, hoping we do not know the answer to the Fermi Paradox.

We stand on the cusp, between past death and future life, knowing we could change our destiny yet we waste time as our only planet dies.

We know we are stronger in numbers and instinctively look outward to our closest for answers. Startup culture prophets scurry to fill the void with hype cycles of ecomodern salvation peddling electric vehicles and promises of an escape to space. But here back on earth, Jevons Paradox and inequality keep us grounded. The solutions we so desperately need unfortunately are extremely complicated, they are difficult to see so we look to authority for answers. But what is authority? Children look outward for help, adults look to themselves.

The only way we can solve our issues is to first look inward and be mindful of our cognitive biases, popular delusions, thought paradoxes, relativity of ethics, heuristics, and psychological fallacies. If we knew ourselves better we would be able to compensate for the bottle end lenses by which we all see the universe. Once through the smog, we will better see the crisis we are in will lead to a collapse. The reasons it is not being addressed is complicated, however the main issues stem from:

  • Living in a closed system and expecting infinite growth.
  • Corporate entities being the most dominant organisations on earth but not taking in to account externalities. This has resulted in 100 corporations causing 71% of industrial emissions[1]. A system where rich nations are responsible for 92% of global emissions[2], and the richest 1% of the world population are responsible for double the pollution produced by the poorest 50%[3].

No one is to blame, these issues are emergent of our system as we are bound in our commonality of the pursuit of profit. All we need to do is unite in a stronger commonality, we stand inside our closed system hurtling through the vacuum of space and we do not have the technology to vent our waste into space[4].

Given our short timeline, we cannot nudge this issue into submission. We need to come together and through transparent political action and burn zero. It will be a long road but if you want to get involved contact us.
