A Decentralized Semi Autonomous Organization (DSAO) is a type of organization that was designed to be semi-automated and decentralized. A DSAO is a development away from Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAOs) in the recognition of the limitations of technology insufficient to provide full automation and therefore, DSAOs are based on open-source code and with minimal dependency on typical management structure or board of directors.

The original developers of DAO systems believed they could eliminate human error or manipulation of investor funds by placing decision-making power into the hands of an automated system and a crowdsourced process. Fueled by ether, the DAO was designed to allow investors to send money from anywhere in the world anonymously. The DAO would then provide those owners.
