ROM stands for read only memory and is a storage medium that stores information permanently. Key to its functioning means:

• New data cannot be written on it.
• Its contents are permanent.

This type of system is crucial in the creation of a transparent company as it means that once an ethical direction is taken from the inception it cannot be overwritten at a later date.
