Politicians get into power by campaigning. The better funded a campaign the more likely a candidate is to get into office. Taking Australia as an example, some data about political donations has been released[1]. And public funding for campaigning has been debated[2], however it is still allowed that corporate sponsorship is allowed.
We have extracted open data from the APH and illustrated it better below, you can type in a name of a political candidate and it will show who their main financial contributors are.
